Multiswitch SMATV system in a 5-staircase building

The requirements for the building installations included SMATV system providing each outlet with DVB-T and SAT signals (from a single Hot Bird position).

The building has five staircases with a 40 m spacing. There is an underground garage in the basement below the ground level (first flloor). The basement should be used for the distribution of the signals to all the staircases (the investor did not want separate systems in individual staicases) via a bus composed of five Triset-11 PE E1025 cables.

Due to a large number of the outlets in the building (ca. 300), the optimum choice was multiswitch system based on a bus architecture and MSV-5xx multiswitches.

 

In this implementation, three stories in each staircase have been equipped with MSV-516 R70716 multiswitch and satellite splitter or tap from Terra SS-5xx series with the loss resulting from the energetic balance. The exception is the last, fourth floor, equipped in each staircase only with the MSV-516 R70716 multiswitch. The total number of outlets in each staircase is about 60.

The system is powered from SA 501 R70501 amplifiers located in each staircase, via H lines.

Multiswitches for professional installations

Technical parameters significantly better than those of similar devices on the market, reliability, extensive range of models well-suited for the requirements of investors, 24-month warranty, availability of quick service - are the criteria allowing to include some equipment to the professional group. TERRA multiswitches fulfill these requirements, and, according to opinions of installers and the editorial staff of "SatKurier", are the best products on the market.
TERRA company provides two kinds of these devices: cascadable multiswitches (MS series) and radial multiswitches (MSR and MSV series - the latter can be powered remotely). TERRA multiswitches allow to build SMATV systems up to 1000 outlets. Each of the series is divided into two subgroups: 5-input (for one satellite and terrestrial TV) and 9-input (for two satellites and terrestrial TV).

TERRA multiswitches are compatible with HD broadcasts

The most flexible multiswitch installations in multi-story buildings are based on 9-cable system (signals from two Quatro LNBs and terrestrial TV antenna). On each floor we employ the splitter providing signals to multiswitches. It allows to shape the network according to actual requirements - we may deploy practically unlimited number of outlets.

After getting some information from installers on improper cooperation of some multiswitches, coming from certain manufacturers, with digital platforms, we decided to thoroughly test this issue in the case of TERRA equipment.

The tests showed that MS-XXX, MSR-XXX, and MSV-XXX series are fully compatible with HD broadcasts.
Multiswitches from Terra operate properly both in the case of 8PSK modulation (e.g. TVN) and QPSK (e.g. Cyfrowy Polsat, Cyfra+). They are suitable for MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 compressions.

Terra multiswitches allow to build SMATV systems up to 250 outlets, using various topologies. The most flexible multiswitch installations in multi-story buildings are based on 9-cable system. It allows to shape the network according to actual requirements - one may deploy a suitable number of outlets.
